OPT-IN PROVISION
A Participant Student may elect the family plan at any time within 30 days of the effective date of insurance of the Participant Student. The family plan will not be accepted if the Participant Student does not exercise this option within the 30 day period.

IMPORTANT NOTES
This online Family opt-in is available to full-time May start students only.

Family coverage is NOT instant, all family members are added ONCE the family opt in has concluded and we have received the enrollment list from your College.

If you are NOT a May intake student, you ARE NOT eligible for family benefits. Please be aware that although the online system will accept your request. Your payment will be returned to you once the opt-in period has concluded.

Terms & Conditions

DEFINITIONS
“Participant Student” means a full-time non Canadian student of the College, their accompanying Spouse and accompanying Dependent Children, who are in good health, and have passed all medical requirements to enter Canada, and for whom the applicable premium has been paid

“Dependent Child” means any natural child, step-child, or legally adopted child of the student, who receives support and maintenance from the student and is; (a) under 21 years of age and unmarried; or (b) 21 years of age but less than 26 years of age, unmarried, and is a full-time student in Canada; or (c) mentally or physically infirm. This shall also include a child of the student’s spouse who lives with the student in a parent-child relationship.

“Spouse” means a person who is under the age of 65 and; (a) to whom the student is legally married; or (b) to whom the student is married by a marriage that is voidable and has not been declared null and void; or (c) with whom the student has continuously cohabited and who has been publicly represented as the student’s spouse for a minimum of 12 months immediately before a loss is incurred under the policy.


EFFECTIVE DATE OF INSURANCE OF AN INSURED PERSON
Eligible Spouse Dependent Child shall become an insured on the effective date of the confirmation of enrolment. Spouses and Dependent Children who are hospitalized on their effective date of coverage will only become eligible on the date they are released from the Hospital.

TERMINATION OF INSURANCE
For the insured Spouse and/or insured Dependent child, coverage terminates on the earliest of:
(a) the date such person becomes ineligible for coverage; and
(b) the date a Participant Student’s insurance is terminated;
(c) the date such person becomes eligible under a Canadian federal/provincial health plan or other group insurance plan or;
(d) August 31st, 2025.

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION AND PROTECTION OF PRIVACY ACT
In accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, this is to advise you that the personal information collected on this form will be used for administrative purposes by the College and will be submitted to the insurance broker and carrier to process your coverage. Black Out Period Information

Please note that there is a black out period for fall semester 2018 from September 1st to October 12th, 2018. This allows administration time to ensure all students on the plan are registered as full-time students. IGNITE's Flexible Health and Dental plan is retroactive to September 1st, 2018 and all claims submitted during the blackout will be reviewed and processed beginning October 13th, 2018.

Welcome to your first year as a member of the WeSpeakStudent benefits plan.

Our team is excited to have you onboard and we want to ensure you get the most out of your health care.

This year has come with unprecedented changes and setbacks. Unfortunately, one of these setbacks is a delay in getting UNB Grads uploaded and active. This technicality means that you won't be able to submit claims or that your claims may temporarily be rejected until October 1st, 2023. You are still covered from September 1st, 2023, however, please hold onto any receipts or invoices you collect during the month of September so that when the systems are up and running normally, you may submit your claims and receive your reimbursements.

Purchase Out of Province Travel Insurance

students and employees traveling outside of Ontario on a approved activity of up to 180 days are required to purchase the following Travel Insurance.

You must purchase coverage from the day you leave Ontario to the day you return to Ontario.

To be eligible for this insurance:

  • You must be covered under a provincial health insurance plan, or other equivalent insurance plan, and;
  • You must be a registered student or a employee

If you are traveling for a period of more than 180 days, please email global.learning@senecapolytechnic.ca for guidance on how to purchase additional coverage.

Upon purchase:

  • You will receive an email with the details of your insurance coverage.
    • If you would like to read the detailed coverage prior to purchase, please visit the 'Travel Benefit Summary'.
  • The email will include a confirmation number.
    • Seneca students – this confirmation number is required to complete specific forms prior to your departure on your Seneca activity.
